Crushed Out – ‘Alien Ocean’ Stream and Review

Without hesitation, power duo Crushed Out kicks down the door between sunshine and incendiary on their new album Alien Ocean.

The opening chords of “Out of the Blue” are as gritty as a mouthful of sand, forecasting much of Alien Ocean‘s balance between beach-pop and gloomy blues.

The new Crushed Out record dotes along with beach bingo giddiness and snorkel dance move-inspiring tracks that cover an array of naughty nautical exploits, including “Ride the Tide,” “Tsunami” and “Skinny Dippin’.”

With washed-out cymbals, thick guitars and layered vocals, the production of the record creates a mammoth wall of sound, particularly on “Cool Clear Water” and the innuendo-driven “Big Woolly.”

It’s been a good long while since minimalist rock has managed to be as genuinely frenetic, endearing and unabashedly sassy as it does on this truly charming LP.
