I have the yamaha hs50m’s and they suck. People love these for some reason but i don’t know why. I hate them. I work at a pro studio and have a home studio too. I would love to replace my yamahas with the incredible sound of Mackie.

My band has just moved to California from Hawaii and we have a studio almost set up, except for the monitors… We need them because we want to start work on our next album and we want to have it sound as good as possible!

Why should I win the Mackie’s? I don’t know. But why do I want them? Well, when I was well on my way in music — around the age of 20 I was at Berklee College of Music. My girlfriend and I got pregnant — so I left it all for a bit to start to raise a family. We got married, raised our son. And — well, we blinked and 14 1/2 years later we are still happily married with 5 kids. Yup 5!! 2 boys and 3 girls. And the best part. After leaving that life behind so that I could raise a family [and a pretty kick ass one if you ask me] it has come full circle. While raising them I recorded a couple albums, gigged some, and kept writing, writing, writing. Just this year, Berklee announced their first ever online degree program. I applied. I was accepted. I’m finishing up my degree in Music production. And having these Mackie’s would be a great tool.

I’m psyched to be back at it — and the lessons my kids have learned through this journey are unbelievable. Never stop dreaming. Never stop striving. Even if life takes you off the track you thought was the right track — hang on to your passions. It’ll come full circle.

So, let’s power up those monitors and get producing!

Performer, you should absolutely let us have a crack at them there speakers. Why, you ask? Well, because we, (Vices I Admire) currently use a Mackie Onyx board to record our music and Mackie speakers for our live setup. More than that, we are working on fleshing out our own home studio and have brought — and will continue to bring in — more local artists to record their music with us in an effort to broaden Denver’s reach and to help out all of our homies in the scene! We would be interested in featuring our studio setup in some of those videos, as well as any videos we produce to represent the band’s music production. We are driven, have a sound business sense and if there is any way we could collaborate with your magazine in any way, we would be very much interested in making that a reality!

Here is our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/vicesiadmire

    And our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/vicesiadmireband

Thanks so much for your time and consideration!

    Dear performermag.com,

I desperately want to win these monitor speakers, I am building a studio and these would be a perfect fit for creating perfect mixes. I am technically still a student, whose budget isn’t exactly large, and so getting these speakers would be not just an amazing achievement but also a real help! With Martin Garrix as my idol, I hope to follow in his magical footsteps and create some of EDM’s most iconic tracks!! He’s a true inspiration to any young producer.

Here’s the only problem..I’m from the UK, so obviosuly shipping would be an issue….BUT..I’m fully prepared to pay full shipping costs! This would still greatly reduce the price of buying new monitor speakers and if you would be willing to open the competition to me it would make my day..week..year! If you have anything you want to ask please don’t hesitate to email me with the address I have provided.

    My best regards,
    Owen Smith

One of the hardest parts about being a touring musician for me is having to sacrifice essential gear in the luggage packing process. I write and produce demos on the road and having to rely on earbuds can be less than inspiring. After reading the review in October’s issue, I love how Mackie has been able to pack clarity, flat response and robust low end in this portable footprint. These would definitely be a game changer for my workflow.

We are about to record our second album (all by ourselves!) and the one thing we could really use is a pair of great monitors. Judging from your review, these Mackies would be ideal. I also like getting stuff from companies like Mackie with a great reputation for sound and value. Thanks!

I need these Mackie monitors because the ones I’m using right now weigh 50 lbs more than I do… EACH. Plus the crackle and pop if I sing at full volume, and no singer should ever have to hold back! Mackie’s the best and I would want nothing less for my performances!

Well, being a musician for a living, I’m not necessarily rolling in the dough. The monitors I have are terrible, and clip with the least bit of volume. I need these monitors to keep my job!!!

I’m a big Mackie fan. I’ve purchased 2 of your mixers, a set of studio monitors, powered PA speakers, powered PA mixer and passive PA speakers. I have none of these things now having given some away some items and loosing the rest in a divorce settlement. Would love to have a set of those monitors!

I think you should give me these because I am old and on Medicare and still want to rock but I’ve been mixing on stereo speakers and with my bad hearing I ALWAYS mix bad and have to re-do them at lest 4 or 5 times to get a mix that is good enough. So help me save what precious little time I have left in life (I am almost 60 ya know) and give me these!!!!

Thanks for the consideration and for making a darned awesome magazine.

I’d love to win these because…well, I’m a starving recording artists whose Rubicons are blown. I’ve always dreamed of making the transition to Mackie. I also have an interview series and would love to display them in the background – and would love to interview Mark Graham obviously. 🙂

I will definitely be happy to win these Mackies since the monitors I am using are so old already. I can make use of the Mackies CR4 in my little recording studio and do a better job mixing my tracks and best of all have fun everyday with these mackies.

I bet you guys feel really bad reading everyone’s sad stories. I sure do. But I use a Hp Pavilion g series laptop and it sucks poo for electronic music production. I have cheap M-Audio studio monitors, but the left one is distorted and it’s bad enough to where I cant use it. So I only have one monitor plugged in and then I plug my Grado headphones into it and yeah. Ears hurt. I still need to buy my self an audio interface, new expensive laptop, possibly studio monitors(We’ll see after October 31). Oh and I need a new midi keyboard. Mine just stopped working one day </3 But giving me these beauties would save me money and it would make music production less frustrating. Thanks, doods.

Hi! Thanks for the chance to win these monitors! Why i had to win? Because I don’t have the money to buy it. Xd! I’m a keyboardist and sound technician and I am building my personal home studio. It’s difficult these times buying new gear. Give me this opportunity. Thanks!! 🙂

Why should I win the monitors you ask? well, I am an aspiring audio engineer that moved to the US from South America not so long ago with little to none equipment, even though I have sort of figured out ways to keep working, having a good pair of monitors at home will be a great asset for me to mix at home! And well besides that, I’m a very nice guy.

I picked up a pair of these as soon as they were released, and I was totally blown away. These little bad boys put out a ton of sound, and don’t sound like total crap while they do it – it’s actually the exact opposite, they’re amazing from the size and price point. I’ve been playing video game, watching netflix, doing some minor music mixing, drowning my sorrows, shaking the meaningless trinkets from my shelves, contemplating the meaning of life, and crying myself to sleep at night to the lovely tunes these guys pump out.

However… I now have a dream. A dream where my pair of Mackie CR4s and another pair of Mackie CR4s can live in the same room and sit just across from each other. So that I can do the unthinkable and set up glorious surround sound at my computer desk. Because this is America dammit, we strive towards the unnecessary and excessive on a daily basis.

No but seriously, my only real option other than these are the Bose speakers at where I work. And while I get a crazy discount on them, I feel like I’d be selling a piece of my soul if I actually went through with that.

Long story short, don’t doom me to eternal damnation, and instead be so kind as to bestow a pair of fancy-pants monitors upon one so unworthy as myself.

i run a small recording/production studio and mix every single day—i am using a pair of 15 year old monitors, which while great, have needed a few sets of replacement drivers, and parts for these are getting hard to find. not only that, when working professionally, it is always best to have a few different points of reference. as we work on a tight budget to produce awesome sounding mixes/recordings at reasonable prices, a little help from a great company like Mackie, along with the combined generosity of Performer magazine would make my day.

I know I’m too late for this. But if you have a spare to giveaway, I would feel blessed if given the opportunity to own this!

Why should I deserve these? I have a family to raise and income is not enough and a student loan to pay. I’m very passionate in music making and has been lucky in buying old used gear really cheap so I could still play. In my good days in my faraway country, I used to have a small Mackie mixer in the 90’s which was built like a tank and I have abused it. It never gave up on me so the brand name stuck on me. I live in America now. Life is good, but I just can’t afford any quality gear at the moment.
