Onesheet launches simple band web presences to give musicians a consistent and effective online hub amidst the ever-changing environment of social networks.
Musicians are constantly having to direct fans from service to service and from used-to-be-awesome social network to now-is-awesome social network. It’s confusing them them and for their fans. Enter Onesheet.
Onesheet, launched yesterday into beta, is a service that allows musicians to quickly and effortlessly set up a robust web presence in a matter of minutes building off of existing content from other websites. Users connect their existing social networks and services, and in seconds, they have a website full of content, including music, videos, photos, concert dates, blogs, social streams, mailing list signups, online stores, and more.
The result is a beautifully simple page highlighting the band’s image and music, with links to reveal additional all the other content.
Onesheet focuses on supporting sites that are part of a musicians core marketing and distribution channels. At launch, supported sites included (in alphabetical order): ArtistData, Bandcamp, BandsInTown, Bandzoogle, Facebook, FanBridge, NextBigSound, Posterous, ReverbNation, Songkick, Sonicbids, Soundcloud, Tumblr, Twitter, Vimeo, WordPress, and YouTube.
User can expect to see the following services integrated shortly: CD Baby, Instagram, iTunes, Moontoast, Nimbit, Rdio, and Topspin. Also, Onesheet will add more customization options, allowing users greater control over their web page.
The site’s current features are and will remain free, with a premium set of features to be released in the future.
What Beta Means:
At launch, artists can immediately reserve their Onesheet URL. Accounts will then be activated in the following days/weeks depending on volume. The goal is to get as many people using this product as quickly as possible, so the waiting period between reserving a URL and setting up a Onesheet should be very short.
Who’s behind it:
Onesheet was designed and created by Brenden Mulligan (http://www.twitter.com/bmull), former founder of ArtistData (http://www.artistdata.com), a syndication engine for artist content that is used by over 40,000 musicians and thousands of record labels (including every major label). ArtistData was acquired in June 2010 by Sonicbids. Since then Mulligan has created several other small web services, including MorningPics (http://www.morningpics.com) and PhotoPile (http://www.photopile.me). Says Mulligan of his latest endeavor, “Unlike most band homepages, Onesheet’s are maintenance free. As long as the band is updating the other services, which they are often doing more than their homepage, their Onesheet stays current.”
