Steely Dan kicks ass, and the bass groove from “Black Cow” has been lifted and twisted so many times by the hip-hop community that it may in fact be the most sampled loop of all time. In any event, that bass line alone puts it in the pantheon of funk greats, as do the killer, smooth horns that elevate the track.
