Deafheaven
with Envy and Tribulation
at Royale – Boston, MA
November 3, 2015
Tribulation
First time touring the US in 5 years, Tokyo’s Envy performed a beautifully emotional and brutal set at Royale, opening up for San Francisco’s Deafheaven. On tour in support of their latest full length Atheist’s Cornea on Temporary Residence LTD, they took the crowd over and mesmerized them enough to nearly forget Deafheaven.
Envy
Envy
They are very successful at drawing people in with their somber starts that lead into exploding sounds and accompanying screams from frontman Tetsuya Fukagawa. Hopefully it won’t be another 5 years before they return to the States. Check them out now on tour with La Dispute through November 17th on the West Coast.
Envy
Before them Sweden’s death and goth metal experts Tribulation burned their way through a incense-fueled set. Also in support of their latest and third release New Bermuda, a tremendous follow up to 2013’s Sunbather, as expected Deafheaven filled the room with their brand of “blackgaze” metal that rounded out the night to be one of the most intense shows the theatre district rock club has felt in a long time.
