▼ Article continues below ▼“The last two years of my life have been dedicated to my new record that came out a month ago, entitled T E L E V I S I O N. I recorded it at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco – produced by John Vanderslice and engineered by Jacob Winik. Working with JV and Jacob is so incredible because they are so weird and bonkers that is exactly what I wanted for this record.
I have been on tour for the last 3 weeks, there are so many strenuous, tiring, emotionally draining aspects of being on tour. Being in a van for hours, having no choice but to eat terrible fast-food, loading in and setting up tons of gear, no alone time, being far from your friends and family, dealing with broken cables or instruments last minute, trying to give your best performance every night – the list goes on. It is A LOT of hard work.
However, even when I have a terrible show or I am tired and everything goes wrong aand ready to cry and dig my face into a tub of Ben & Jerry’s, when that one person comes up to me at the end of the night and tells me that they loved the show and have been listening for years and had a great night. When I see that smile on their face and that look of pure joy all of us have had once from a really magical live show – it makes all it worth it.”
