Submissions Now Open for Performer’s Special Photography Issue

by | Sep 30, 2013 | Industry News

cameraAttention photographers! We are planning a special print issue celebrating the diverse and wonderful field of music photography – both live music photography and studio work. Black and white, color, whatever!

If you are a photographer, we want to hear from you, and potentially feature your work and/or thoughts on music photography.

ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 1, 2013. PLEASE READ ALL THE INFO BELOW FOR SUBMISSION DETAILS.

There are 3 types of pieces we’d like to consider you for, so please submit for any or all. Read the quick blurbs below, then head to the submission info at the bottom for instructions on sending us your stuff for consideration.

1. “Photographer Snapshot” – this will be a quick q&a that you’ll email back to us about your craft, along with a headshot of you. Basically a “snapshot” bio/artistic rundown of your work and philosophy about your art. We want our readers to quickly get a sense of who you are and what you’re about.

2. Photos for “gallery” consideration. Part of the issue will consist of the coolest music photography we can get our hands on. Submit interesting studio shots of bands you’ve done promo sessions for, killer live shots from festivals, club gigs or other concerts, or anything else music-related (still life featuring instruments, etc).

Try to limit it to only ONE image for the photo gallery submission, please; make sure it’s the best representation of your work.

3. “Insider tips” – these will essentially be really quick tips and tricks of the trade (250-300 words). We’re looking for volunteers to help with articles such as: maximizing your band’s Instagram account, technical tips for your fellow photogs, info for bands on getting the most out of their press shots, how to hire a concert photographer for your band, or any other relevant pieces you’d like to contribute. Again, these are short and to-the-point articles that will be interspersed throughout the issue.
