We also recently caught up with SCK frontman Jared Griffin to get his thoughts on the upcoming show and the band’s stage performance. Here’s what he had to say…
How does preparation for a hometown gig differ from playing live on the road?
Drinking less helps when on the road. Longevity is key when playing a string of shows. Hometown shows you just show up and hope the audience does, too.
What do you like best about Great American Music Hall?
Arriving to it. I still get the warm n fuzzies when showing up for sound check.
What’s your favorite part of performing live?
The high. Can’t explain it but something just washes over you and nothing compares to it.
What can an audience expect in a SCK show?
Blood and sweat and no apologies.
There are a lot of acts jumping on the “Americana” bandwagon these days, in the wake of Mumford & Sons’ success. What makes SCK stand out in this new revival?
Well it’s not romantic and clean like all that stuff. Let’s just say if little Sally brought home Mumford & Sons the parents would think they’re the marrying kind; if she brought home Sioux City Kid they’d send her to boarding school.
