Loch Lomond – ‘Pens From Spain’ Review PLUS Album Stream

Urged along by a snappy beat, yet still fueled by the misty washes of sonic splendor that we will expect to find gently washing over the banks of Loch Lomond.

Pens From Spain, the new record from Portland’s Loch Lomond, creeps over the horizon, finally cresting some far-off object in your peripheral vision to just sort of take over the vista with a profusion of instruments that fill the sonic panorama. Guitars and percussive sounds anchor the stereo view, the rest of its world is full of variegated, more amorphous sounds.

All this atmosphere usually sacrifices any sort of vibe or tempo. Loch Lomond keeps the gentle electro-folk moving with tracks like “Be Mind & Be Kind,” which is urged along by a snappy beat, yet still fueled by the misty washes of sonic splendor that we will expect to find gently washing over the banks of Loch Lomond.
