rocker Mike Grimes (who is also in 1980s cover band

Guilty Pleasures) and Geoff Donovan, The Basement and Grimey's have been bringing great music to Nashville

since 2003. The venue is 21 and up, so if over half your

Battle Tapes Recording

As we have said in the past, Battle Tapes is the go-to

place for indie rock bands in Nashville. Owner and

producer Jeremy Ferguson has run the studio with Tony

Read since 2003, when he opened the three-room

recording studio in his house in East Nashville's

Inglewood district. Ferguson, though also in band

Mercator, has a very strong background in producing,

having received a degree in Music Production and Technology and also having interned at Alex the Great Recording.

DigiDesign digi002 with ProTools LE 7.3 and 5.2.1 (with

On June 10, swamp rock pioneer Tony Joe White released his latest album Deep Cuts on Swamp Records, celebrating his 40-year career in the music industry. Many of his classic songs, like the 1969 hit "Polk Salad Annie," were refreshed with palettes of samples and loops, yet still remained true to the bayou funk.

A month after rock band The Coal Men released its second album on Vaskaleedez Records, the label folded in November of 2007. The band has independently taken the project on the road ever since and in April went back into the studio to record its third album, which will be out early 2009, followed by another string of shows throughout the Southeast, Northeast and Midwest.

Having moved back and forth from Murfreesboro to Nashville several times, punk group Stuck Lucky is performing all across the Southeast and Northeast this summer on the Community Records Tour. The band is scheduled for a show at The Muse on July 11.

Hailed as one of the most critically-acclaimed and influential groups in bluegrass today, The Grascals are set to release their third studio album, titled Keep On Walkin, with Rounder Records on July 15. For two years, the group has won IBMA's (International Bluegrass Music Association) Entertainers of the Year award. The 12-song, self-produced album will mark the group's first release in over two years.

Member of the duo eastmountainsouth Peter Bradley Adams is scheduled to release his sophomore album LeaveTaking on Sarathan Records August 5. The project was recorded in Nashville and co-produced by Lex Price, who has worked with artists such as Taylor Swift, The Bittersweets and Dolly Parton. The album's title and theme was inspired by a Mark Strand poem titled "The View."

Country singer/songwriter Tori Sparks' single "Cold War" was featured on Universal Music France's double-disc compilation. The compilation has been released in France, Switzerland, Belgium and other European countries. "Cold War" is the single off of her latest album Under This Yellow Sun, which has recently been licensed in full by MTV, Lifetime and Oxygen Network for use in their 2008 television series. Sparks is currently performing throughout the Southeast with a show scheduled on August 3 at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville.
