With over 10 years of experience, The Blackstone provides a great space to play and hear music. Originating in Pawtucket in 1996, The Blackstone started out as a combination live and dance music venue, art gallery and laidback eatery featuring the famous “Last Call” pizza. In 1998, owners John and Marion Lefrancois moved the club to a bigger space in Cumberland, where they turned the focus mainly to music programming. Their eight years in Cumberland gave the place a reputation as an entry point for bands to get into the Rhode Island music circuit, and they brought in talented musicians from around the country.

The newest location, in Pawtucket, has twice the capacity of their previous place. They also brought back the art gallery and have a full menu for hungry art appreciators. Blackstone is now available to host community functions and is a part of the Hope Artist Village, a mill complex inhabited by Pawtucket artists and small businesses. Surrounded by a community of creative and motivated individuals, The Blackstone continues to be a destination place for New England musicians.

The Blackstone takes pride in its position as a great music venue; you may see several of their staff members on stage (and I don’t mean just after a few drinks). As long as you’re not a cover band, The Blackstone welcomes any musician, signed or not, to play. They do give preference to Rhode Island and New England area musicians, but there are definitely opportunities for anyone to come show their stuff.
