Mission of Burma Releases Unsound

BY SAMANTHA WARD

The post-punk group from Boston is set to release their fifth studio album, Unsound, on July 10th to eager fans. The group formed in 1979 , disbanded after only four years, then reconnected another 18 years later. Since their early days they have been an unstoppable force in post-punk, earning a name for themselves in the indie community.

The new album  was recorded at Woolly Mammoth Studios in Boston and, rather than take a step away from their usual style as so many groups do at this point in their careers, they simply pushed the boundaries of their niche in post-punk to produce a new and interesting, but still familiar, sound. It’s what they’ve always done… but better. Unsound allowed the group to step out of their comfort zone and produce an aggressively raw, fluid album.
