Happy Funk Friday, y’all. Today’s installment highlights one of my personal faves, Morris Day and the Time. You may know these Prince-friendly funksters from their screen time in Purple Rain, or perhaps Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. But they’re more than a few pretty faces and a weird man-servant named Jerome.

They feature one of the HAAARDEST rhythm sections of any modern funk outfit, and I can atttest to this from personal erxperience, having seen the Time in concert on a few separate occasions.
