Venue Profile: The End

BY BRAD HARDISTY

Located in the middle of the Elliston “Rock Block” just a few streets from Vanderbilt University, The End provides alternative, punk and indie music lovers a place to see their favorite local bands as well as regional touring artists.

The room is not that large, but features different areas such as a cozy nook around the corner of the wrap around bar, a patio, as well as a few covered tables with an open area that provides about 100 fans an opportunity to hang out and dance (or just listen to the great local music).

Local buzz bands such as Heavy Cream, Diarrhea Planet and The Grayces regularly perform here, as well as Third Man Records’ Dex Romweber Duo.  The schedule can be eclectic as there are so many different scenes in Nashville, ranging from punk, Americana and retro-punk.

The “Rock Block” on Elliston has been an area for several decades where rock bands, fans and college students have hung out to hear music at Exit/In and The End, as well as eat at the oldest running diner in Nashville, Elliston Place Soda Shop. There are even vintage stage clothes at Flashback Vintage and a boutique gear store called Rock Block Guitars on the same short stretch.

The shows are 18+ and generally start at 9:00 pm. The cover in Nashville is $5, which is common for most local indie shows, unless a band has an established draw. The End is a great place to start for an indie act local to the area, or traveling through on tour.

A PA system is provided and it is best to find more information regarding booking by calling the club phone number Monday-Saturday between the hours of noon and 5:00 pm.
