Social Distortion’s Hometown Fans Rally for Red Carpet Premiere

Southern California fans have spoken!  Over the last week, fans of rock ‘n’ roll icons Social Distortion were given the chance to win a worldwide premiere event in their city for the band’s breathtaking short film music video for “Machine Gun Blues” by sharing the trailer online.  Social Distortion and Epitaph Records have announced that the band’s hometown fans in Los Angeles and Orange County stepped up to the challenge with the most shares of the trailer, demanding the event in their area.  Additionally, 40 fans across the country who shared the video the most times won fly away trips to the event.  Social Distortion will premiere their hotly anticipated extended video at an exclusive red carpet event that will include a screening of the video and intimate performance by the band at The Music Box in Hollywood on April 21.

The cities and fans that didn’t win should not fret though.  The event will be streamed live on all partnering radio stations listed below as well as on RollingStone.com beginning at 8:15PM PT on April 21.  Fans around the world will be able to tune in simultaneously for the video premiere and performance by the band.

The beautiful extended video for “Machine Gun Blues” begins in 1934 Los Angeles as Mike “Sick Boy” Ness and his “Blood and Sorrow” crew of gangsters knock off a bank only to realize the feds are hot on their trail.  Shot at the famous Union Station in downtown Los Angeles and surrounding areas, the gang is chased through rolling dusty roads to their hideout for an explosive showdown with the G-men.

“Machine Gun Blues” is the first single from Social Distortion’s seventh studio album, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes, which was released in January and has since sold an astounding 102,000 copies in the US alone.

Social Distortion will be kicking off a US tour at the end of April in support of Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes.
